BOOK | READING SUGGESTIONS | SELF-CARE | SASS AND CURVE

Taking time out of your busy schedule is so important for your mental wellbeing. Sometimes you just need to clock out with a good book. 

Self-care is a big part of your body positivity/confidence journey. You need to be able to break away from society on occasion and let your mind relax.

It may be debatable whether reading really lets your mind relax, but one thing for sure is that it is the perfect form of escapism.

I’ll be honest, I’m not the biggest reader. But that’s only because I am so picky with my book selection. Also, I get way too invested in the story and am absolutely heartbroken when I finish that last page.

If you’re a big reader or are wanting some motivation, I’ve compiled a list of some of my faves.
Some are big reads, others are for the days you only have 10-15 minutes to spare.

STORY TIME

If you want to get lost in a story that is not too far from reality but still gives you a sense of wonder, these are some of my favourites.

I’ll be honest, most are sappy female battles with societal pressures and romance. But make an exception for The Kite Runner, which is a beautiful story of struggle, success and family that cannot be left unread.

CLOSER TO REALITY

So, you don’t want to drift too far from reality, or maybe not at all? These are some of my favourites that stray away from fiction.

The two poetry books, by Rupi Kaur and Adeline Whitmore, are perfect if you just want to break free a little bit, but still feel fulfilled. While the other two are when you want some self-improvement or just a good laugh.
